Oregon Fishing
Trips
Ahh… the smell of the fresh, crisp air and the coffee
brewing on the open camp fire, there is nothing better to bring
back childhood memories. My dad loved fishing and we took
many Oregon fishing trips when I was a kid. I
remember picking blackberries along the banks of the beautiful
Rogue River while he would be intently fishing for a rainbow
trout or large salmon or Chinook that are this river’s
natives. I was assigned the task of managing the net for
him.
My mom shared his enjoyment of fishing and she would also be
casting her line, carefully letting the fishing fly dance on
the glistening water. If my memory serves me correctly, I
believe my mom’s technique was duly rewarded with more catches
than my dad. In the evening, or for breakfast, my six siblings
and I would eagerly gobble up the freshly fried catch expertly
prepared by mom. My brother, Bob, seemed to be the most
interested in learning the skills of fly fishing while the rest
of us kids were happy to search through the fir trees that
thickly populated the Rogue River’s banks for special
treasures.
The Oregon wilderness is vast, rugged and beautiful with
hundreds of rivers, lakes and miles of Pacific coastline with
which to choose from for rewarding Oregon fishing trips.
The Rogue River is the one fishing area that I am the most
familiar with. My brother-in-law, Sam, and avid
fisherman, has fished a great majority of the lakes, rivers and
coastlines of the Southern Oregon area. He has a freezer
full of fish to prove his fishing expertise.
Several of the rivers boast some of the best river guides in
the U.S. Guided river fishing trips are fully supplied
with everything you may need while fishing in the
wilderness. These Oregon fishing trips historical have a
very high safety and fishing success rate. Their guides
are well trained and have had years of experience. You
will not camp like I camped as a kid. Everything will be
done for you from setting up your tent each night and preparing
your meals to hauling all of your baggage in a separate
boat.
There are many places listed online to compare prices and
check for the best locations and the different fishing
seasons.
